ASKED
QUESTIONS
DOES MY PARISH QUALIFY?
Yes! Every decision we make has ecological implications, so every parish can be a climate parish no matter how large or small…whether you have settled clergy or not!
ARE THERE RESOURCES AVAILABLE NOW?
Yes! We are encouraging parishes to enroll in One Home One Future immediately. Through that larger organization, you will receive general resources for engagement in your parish.
For more focused Episcopal resources, we can offer the Season of Creation resources available here.
WHAT ARE THE LEVELS?
The practices in each Pillar are divided into four levels. A congregation moves through each level in order and becomes progressively more engaged with the community.
Congregations should move through the levels in order, beginning with prepare.
The Levels are: Prepare, Plant, Grow, Harvest.
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
We are enrolling Province I parishes for the 2024-25 cohort through the end of August 2024. If you think your parish might be interested, speak with your rector and vestry and reach out to Rev. Rachel Field and Deb Baker at episcopalcreationpath@gmail.com
Not in Province I?
We are happy to share resources and lessons learned so that you can implement the Path in your context. Send us an email at episcopalcreationpath@gmail.com and we’ll add you to our growing list of folks across the church who want to explore the Path.
AFTER ENROLLMENT, WHAT’S NEXT?
We’ll match your parish with a Companion, and will launch the year with a celebration on October 5, 2024 (details coming soon).
You’ll meet with your Companion about once a month from fall through late spring. There is no set schedule or pace.
Some parishes have a Green Team, some just have one or two volunteers and a vestry or clergy person meet with the Companion. Your Path will be tailored to your parish.
WHAT ARE THE PILLARS?
The pillars (Pray, Learn, Act, Advocate) provide the structure of the Path. Each pillar is equally important and guides congregations through practices and ways to engage in Creation care at a local level.
It is encouraged for congregations to move through the pillars in order, beginning with pray.
The Pillars are: Pray, Learn, Act, Advocate
HOW DOES A CHURCH MOVE THROUGH THE PROGRAM?
Parishes move through the levels guided by a trained Companion.
Each parish will have a different path because the climate crisis affects us differently depending on our ecological context.
